In the fall I was interning for a popular television network when I first found TeamSugar. I was addicted to BuzzSugar, GeekSugar and PopSugar. After my internship was over the network had mass layoffs and I found myself competing against people who had 10 years industry experience. I found myself slipping into a deep depression and I knew it was time to get out of NYC, I just wasn’t ready. I moved back to the D.C. area to be with my family and friends but unfortunately the idea that maybe I just gave up my dreams made the depression even worse. I have a great job and I am around people who care about me but nothing seemed to be able to pull out of the misery I felt.
Now I know how it sounds, how can a website change anything for anyone? It began when I started investing more time on the DearSugar page and reading that there were so many people grappling with the same issues and the advice given could be applied to so many of my own situations. I started looking at FitSugar and YumSugar and found ways to be healthier and enjoy it all at the same time and this was necessary because I was a heavy smoker and very overweight. GiggleSugar got me laughing while BellaSugar and FabSugar got me investing more time in my appearance and thereby raising my self esteem a little. The truth is TeamSugar just got me thinking and I found motivation in reading through the site day after day. Now I can happily say in the last month and a half alone I am 10 pounds lighter and completely cigarette free. There isn’t enough thanks out there for what TeamSugar has done for me.
